This Overview captures Chicago, Illinois, and Lake Michigan during the polar vortex that occurred in January 2019. Captured by the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 satellite, the image shows the entire city covered in snow with massive chunks of lake ice floating offshore. Chicago finished off the month of January with 13 consecutive days of snow and some of its coldest temperatures in more than three decades.
